Take Stock of What Matters to YOU

I had a conversation today that reminded me how important it is to take stock of your life and always remember what is important to you deep down inside.  We all have a lot of different things we care about in the material world, but what is your primary aim in terms of the first and last thing you care about? What your soul is looking for? Read More

In Service To Mothers

Learn how to breathe.  I’m talking about real, conscious breathing.  It’s said that prana, or breath, is our connection to the divine, to the Universe, to the Earth.  It’s our force that circulates in and out of us constantly, and thereby is connected to the Oneness around us.  But it is through conscious breath – thinking about breathing in, and breathing out, either through a certain count such as in for 5, hold for 5 and out for 5, repeatedly, that we learn to control and quiet our mind.  Read More

Having an Attitude of Gratitude

We've all heard it from somewhere - "you should be so grateful, you are so lucky...etc".  But, the question is, do you believe it? Do you intentionally practice it (the act of being grateful)?  Do you think about it on a daily basis? Do you say thank you?   Read More

Why Sleep is So Important

Let's be honest - one of the hardest parts of being a parent is the lack of sleep or disrupted sleep that you get from middle of the night wakings with the kids.  But in a society that wears lack of sleep like a badge of honor ("I pulled an all nighter at work and didn't sleep for 2 days!" -- some poor junior banker on Wall St. bragging to his/her friends) Read More

Who do you turn to?

If you start to lose your way, your motivation, and you begin to question yourself, your work, your being -- what brings you back? What do you do to remember?  I ask because recently, I began to question and began to doubt.  I felt the questioning of "what am I doing" and "why am I doing this" begin to creep back in. Read More

Traveling with kids & why enduring the pain is worth it

No matter who you are-- superman or supermom or whatever, the truth of the matter is that traveling on planes with young children SUCKS.  Unless you are one of the super lucky ones and your children fall asleep at any given moment in any given place...then plane rides are fun because you get peace and quiet, cuddles with a sleeping baby, and time to do nothing but read or watch movies (THAT sounds amazing by the way).  Read More

All in a year

Today was my daughter's last day of school and as I sit here on the brink of summer, I can't help but reflect on how fast time is going by, and also how much has happened over the course of the past year.  It was a BIG year for us.  Read More

Hold Sacred That which is True to You

Yesterday, I met an inspiring woman - she is a true healer.  Her name is Julia and she runs a meditation lifestyle studio in a town near by called Jolie.  She holds workshops, classes, teaches rowing for fitness, yoga, and does meditation sessions.  She is an inspiration to me, because she said that 10 years ago, she started out just doing one-on-one sessions (the way that I am starting my health coaching practice) and eventually built up over time to the point where she could open a center (which is what I want to do in the future).  Read More

Why a little organizing can go a long way (or so they say)..

I've realized that I am an organized person in that I like things to be laid out and neat, but I don't like to actually do the work to get organized.  Does that make any sense?  I feel a ridiculous amount of stress (most of it likely unwarranted stress) when things are stuck in my head and not laid out in paper in front of me.  For example, all the things that go into running my business.  Read More

A Reflection on Space

Space is a funny thing.  For so many people, it's all about taking up less space (i.e., with their body mass being smaller), and yet at the same time, wanting to take up more space (i.e., with their accomplishments and their possessions - more toys, more cars, more home, more things...).  Space can be a source of stress if the space around you is cluttered and disorganized, or it can be a source of calm and peace if it's filled with the people and the things you love, and is organized in a way that makes you happy.   Read More
