All in a year

Today was my daughter's last day of school and as I sit here on the brink of summer, I can't help but reflect on how fast time is going by, and also how much has happened over the course of the past year.

It was a BIG year for us.  We marked our one year anniversary of closing on our new home and moving to a new town.  My daughter finished her first year of real preschool, and recently her first real ballet recital on a stage in front of hundreds of people (which, by the way, when I asked her if she was scared when she got on stage she asked me why exactly she would be scared of that? silly mommy, that's not scary...).  It really amazes me how much she has changed and matured over the year.  It makes me proud that she says she wants to be a health coach when she grows up, and when we talk about having a job and earning money (in the context of wanting more toys), she tells me that she does have a job -- that her job is to take care of her baby brother (my heart jumps with joy at this which is vastly different from how she felt about her baby brother a year ago).

My son officially moved from baby into toddler-hood and looks like a little person - not just a babbling little baby anymore but a talking, running, screaming little person.  Although this is exciting and terrifying at the same time (his little voice and words amaze me but I'm also never sure when he's going to dive head first off the sofa or other furniture...), I can't help but feel a bit of sadness that my little baby is growing up so fast and that this is likely the last time we will have a baby in the house.

My husband's commute to work changed dramatically and now he gets to see the kids every morning and night, as well as help put them to bed -- vastly different from last year where he saw them only Friday-Sunday due to work schedules and bedtime.  This has been a huge shift in our quality of life, all for the better, and my heart sings when I get to watch him with the kids -- the love they have for daddy is so deep and he absolutely lights up when his little "mini-me" runs to give him hugs after work.

As for me, professionally, it's been a huge year.  I graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and became a Certified Health Coach.  I launched my own business.  Wait, I'm going to repeat that...I LAUNCHED MY OWN BUSINESS!! I am now fully on a path that I have wanted to be on for so long -- forging my own way and helping as many others along the path as I can.

So yeah, it's been a crazy year.  Time has flown by, but as I sit here and reflect on all of it, I could not ask for it to have been any other way.  Immense gratitude is all I can feel right now, and a huge amount of excitement as to what the next 12 months has in store.  Thank you for being part of this journey.
